49 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:43 am
Sunset: 5:42 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Seed Swap Day. Although people have been swapping seeds since time began, nowadays people usually buy seeds and the old skill of swapping seeds is disappearing from our culture. The first official seed swap day was held on 26th January 2006, in Washington DC, and is now a national day. It’s a day where gardeners can come together and swap the seeds from their best plants, which is great for improving the biodiversity, in the local area.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There are two seasonal diversions that can ease the bite of any winter. One is the January thaw. The other is the seed catalogs.
Hal Borland
Winter is upon us. With the white snow and the frigid breeze, planting anything is probably the furthest thing from your mind. But right now is actually the best time to plant good thoughts for a happy life.
Your thoughts shape you. Every thought we have is a seed being planted. We can either plants seeds that grow into bountiful flowers or we can plant seeds that grow into weeds.
The seed is hope; the flower is joy.

Good thoughts become flowers. But you can't just plant the seed and expect blooming. You need to nurture the seed if you want to see the flowers bloom. Remember the thoughts that you enjoy. Repeat them. Write them down on paper. Put them on your walls. Believe in them. At the end of your life, you’re going to look back with amazement at the garden you’ve created for yourself. You walk through your garden everyday in your mind, and it’s beautiful!
Today and into part of next week we’re actually having some spring like weather here which brings on thoughts of Spring flowers, but by the end of next week we’re to be back down in the 20’s. I’ll be enjoying it while I can.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday !
Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds,
The harvest can be either flowers or weeds.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
An optimistic gardener is one who believes that whatever goes down must come up.
Leslie Hall
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3544 for seeds to plant, always a miracle in the making
3545. for thoughts of spring, which gives me hope
3546. for wonderful gardens to enjoy when summer comes
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

I never heard of seed swapping ... that's cool!
Good stuff about our thoughts being germinating seeds. I used to get such a kick out of our upbeat blog friend, Buttercup, when - on a rare 'downer' day - she'd refer to herself as "Stinkweed."
I am so ready to get out those seeds. I save a lot that never get used, like zinnias. But then I don't find anyone to give them to, because the people who really love seeds have saved their own. I love the catalogs but they are pricey now and shipping I think could be a little fairer. Have a great weekend.
That is neat about the seed swapping; great custom to do I think! So true about keeping track of good thoughts and thinking of them as seeds and then watching how our garden is grown with them throughout our lives :)

The seed is hope, the flower is joy. I love that Pam! I have never heard of seed swapping, but what a great idea! I also love the thought about friends being flowers in the garden of life. Love all that you share with us. You are a flower in my garden! Have a fabulous Sunday! xoxo
