Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Cherish an Antique Day. A day is set aside in April of every year on which to appreciate unique objects that date back to a time when quality and craftsmanship were most valued by a discerning clients. It is a day on which everyone is encouraged to revisit an era of artistic talent that, for them, holds a special and timeless appeal. Humans have been collecting antiques since the beginning of our history. We have always been fascinated by the stories behind these curiosities and the rare glimpse they give us into the lives of our predecessors.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Grandmothers are just antique little girls.

I sometimes watch the Antique Roadshow on TV. It’s great to see peoples faces when they realize just how much something is worth that they’ve had sitting around for years.
According to Wikipedia, an antique is an old collectible item. It is collected or desirable because of its age, beauty, rarity, condition, utility, personal emotional connection, and/or other unique features. I do have a lot of old beautiful things in my house and cherish them because of the memories they relate to.
Things that are nice to have around, but for me, they are only things, I can do without them if push came to shove. They are really of no value to anyone but me. I think the important things in life to cherish are faith, family and friends. These are the best things in my life and I’m thankful for them every day.
The pictures today are of a visit with the Easter Bunny that were taken last year. Thanks to DD and her family and DS#5 and his family for a very fun morning as we enjoyed a pancake breakfast and an Easter Egg hunt too. They say they’ll be doing it again this year…weather providing it’ll be just as great as it was last year.
I hope you all cherish those important things in your life today and have a wonderful Wednesday!
Give me insight into today and you may have the antique and future worlds.

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for a little over a year and have now reached 1500 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1562. for the old unique trinkets around my house, that bring back some wonderful memories
1563. for the important things in my life that truly matter
1564. for that good cup of French Vanilla coffee this morning

Such a cute event to be part of, Ma! Glad there are plans for a repeat this year!
I am of the same opinion with you about things and their worth compared to family, faith, friends. I too could get rid of a lot. My husband and me did have a talk about this the other day because he puts more value on things/possessions than I do because he thinks of the cost of how those things were gotten. The person going to work, the person making it, etc. I hadn't thought of possessions/things like that in those terms. I still don't put as much value on things as he does, but at least I could see that side and his perspective about it.

How fun to see the Easter Bunny... I've been thinking lately that there has to be something of value in this house with all the stuff we have... :)
