Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
The first Saturday of every April is National Love our Children Day. Today has been set aside to honor children, strengthen families and raise awareness for efforts to keep children safe. National Love Our Children Day is like Mother's and Father's Day for children and is celebrated across the U.S. This day was created to acknowledge the value of children and to educate parents on the importance of giving them love, protection and respect, the three essential elements children need to become strong and successful adults. By promoting healthy and happy children and strengthening families through the support of our nation’s communities, we can keep kids safe.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.
Hodding Carter, Jr.
I really believe that parenting is about preparing children to get along with each other, to get along with you and without you, and that it’s impossible to get along without God.
I also think that parenting is a job that really never ends. At this point in my life all of my children have taken wing and left home. All have their own homes and families too. Still my job isn’t done. I don’t often have hands on work to do for them, but often fill my days with needed prayers for them and their families.
I do hope they always remember their roots too. We tried very hard to give them the basics for living and that did include how important it is to have God in their lives. It may be old fashioned but it is true, the family that prays together stays together.
Faith, family, friends and home have always been the important things in my life.
I don’t have a recent picture of my family all together, but the picture above is of all of them before they all left home many years ago.
I hope you all have a super Saturday and Love your Children !
Children Learn What They Live
If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
He learns to fight.
If a child lives with shame,
He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
He learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
He learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
A parent's love is whole no matter how many times divided.
Robert Brault
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for a little over a year and have now reached 1500 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1550. for my children and grandchildren
1551. for the opportunity to pray
1552. for a job that never ends
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Now the thing about having a baby — and I can't be the first person to have noticed this — is that thereafter you have it.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

What a wonderful post, MA, and a beautiful picture of your children!
The years with children whizz by too fast. Getting ready for one to fly the coop a little sooner than intended. Thanks for the lovely words!
You have a beautiful family MA, but I see only one girl with the boys, ha. Like you I had only one girl and 4 boys. I love them all. Take care, Jean.
How neat that you shared that picture of your kids from when they were younger; great looking kids then and now. I do hope that one day you can get them all together to get another picture of them all.
betty
I agree with Betty, you should recreate the picture with them now... :)
