If there’s ever a day when it’s time to look beyond appearances, it’s today, Bulldogs Are Beautiful Day. Known for their wrinkly faces, stocky builds and tendency to slobber, bulldogs don’t often find themselves associated with the word ‘beautiful’. On this occasion, however, things are different.

To celebrate, owners treat their beloved pets to a special adventure, be it a walk in the park or something more extensive. Delicious treats and extra cuddles are usually on the menu, too. Some dog lovers dress their pets in cute garments and accessories.

I am fortunate that every now and then this cute little bulldog comes next door to visit.  This picture was of him as a puppy and he’s grown considerably since it was taken.  

Appearances can be deceiving.  Nothing, whether it be people or dogs or things, are rarely really what we perceive them to be.  We often hear the expression that beauty is only skin deep or that we should never judge a book by its cover.  Truer words have never been spoken.

 The real beauty of someone or something  goes far beyond just physical appearances.  True beauty goes much deeper than the skin.   Fame, fortune, and material things may look nice on the surface, but they don’t bring your heart and soul any lasting peace or happiness.

Today many go back to work and the few of us that don’t have to work today will be resting up from a long holiday weekend.  Most had off Friday through Sunday.  I’m hoping this week to finally get outside and do a bit of clean up in the yard.  

I hope you all have a marvelous Monday!  Marveling in the wonders all around you !

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.

COUNTING MY GIFTS

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for a little over a  year and have now reached 1600 gifts.  On my way to 2000.  I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting.  There is always, always something to be thankful for.

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this in the

name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
