ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JULY 2nd, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's SATURDAY!
I FORGOT DAY
Hang on, what's today? Oh, I Forgot Day.
I Forgot Day, by definition, today is not a day to remember. So, just what are you forgetting? Can you even remember? Is it important? Hopefully, not.
Some days are days to remember and to cherish all of our lives. Others, like today, are ones to be forgotten. If you are having a bad day, it's just as well that today is I Forgot Day.
Some people view today as an opportunity to express their regrets for forgetting something, and to make amends. They do so by sending cards and flowers, apologizing for their memory lapse. The trouble is, if you forget something important tomorrow, you have to wait a whole year for the next I Forgot Day to arrive.
I Forgot Day is closely related to I'm Sorry Day.
The existence of forgetting has never been proved: We only know that some things don't come to mind when we want them.
Friedrich Nietzsche

JULY BELONGS TO BLUEBERRIES MONTH
In the U.S. Maine, Michigan, and Oregon are most known for their blueberries. Berries can be bought fresh, frozen, and canned. Blueberries are low in fat, and area good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin K.
BREAKFAST BREAD PUDDING WITH BLUE BERRIES
1 loaf dry or slightly stale French or Italian bread
1/4 cup lemon curd
7 eggs
2 cups milk
2 cups half and half
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 12 oz. bag frozen blueberries
Cut bread in half lengthwise. Spread bottom half with lemon curd. Replace top and cut down center from end to end, then crosswise into 3/4" slices. Arrange bread in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
Lightly beat eggs. Add milk, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, and salt, beating until blended. Pour custard into casserole. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 325,F. Bake 1 to 1 1/4 hours, until cooked through
For blueberry sauce, combine sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan. Stir in water until smooth. Add blueberries. Cook, gently stirring over low heat, just until boiling, about 5 minutes. Boil 30 seconds and remove from heat. Serve with bread pudding.
Note: Lemon curd is made by gently cooking a mixture of fresh lemon juice, sugar, butter and egg until thickened. Lemon curd is also divine on buttered toast. Lemon curd is available pre-made in most well stocked grocery stores or gourmet food stores
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
God gave us memories that we might have roses in December
J.M. Barrie
One thing to NEVER forget....
Your presence, is a present to the world.
You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be, what you want it to be.
Take the days, just one at a time.
Count your blessings, not your troubles.
You'll make it through, whatever comes along.
Within you, are so many answers.
Understand, have courage, be strong.
Don't put limits on yourself.
So many dreams, are waiting to be realized.
Decisions are too important, to leave to chance.
Reach for your peak, your goal and your prize.
Nothing wastes more energy, than worrying.
The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously.
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.
Remember, that a little love goes a long way.
Remember, that a lot of love goes forever.
Remember, that friendship is a wise investment.
Life treasures, are people... together.
Realize, that it's never too late.
Do ordinary things, in a extraordinary way.
Have health, hope and happiness.
Take the time, to wish upon a star.
And don't ever forget....
For even a day....
How very special you are.

Am I forgetful??! Oh, yes!! And I get so frustrated sometimes!
I like the line: "Count your blessings not your problems." Well worth remembering!!
Have a great holiday weekend!
The older I get the more forgetful I become Ma!! I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend. I am playing catch up once again this morning! I have been super busy this week with appointments and such have not had a lot of time for play! I love blueberries. I miss the wild ones from home but make do with the ones they bring in from Poland here, they are bigger, but taste much the same, perhaps not quite as sweet as the wild ones though! xxoo
