ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MAY 26TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's THURSDAY!
NATIONAL BACK YARD GAMES WEEK
This week we celebrate the unofficial start of summer by fostering social interaction and family togetherness through backyard games. Get outside and be both physically and mentally stimulated, playing classic games of the past while discovering and creating new ways to be active and interact with neighbors and friends.
Though the main point of Memorial Day is to commemorate the men and women that sacrificed their lives in military service, this holiday also marks the beginning of the summer season.
Run through the sprinklers, throw your water balloons, and refill those super soakers!
National Backyard Games Week ends with Memorial Day and no matter how hard you play, don't forget to reflect on the lives lost by our military men and women.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
NATIONAL BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE DAY

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Less can be better and a lot more fun.
As a child I didn't sit indoors like most kids today, playing video games and surfing the Net; we were too busy out playing ball, swinging, catching crawdads and minnows, hiking, swimming or fishing at the creek on my grandparents farm, camping in a makeshift tent with a blanket thrown over some chairs, or anything else that would get us out of the house. We especially loved to play games. We'd play hide-and-seek, tag, and make-believe games like cowboys and Indians or cops and robbers.
I think my own children did a lot of the same things and though we didn't have a farm to visit we camped a lot so they got some quality outdoor time too. The good old days did have a lot of good in them for sure.
I'm ready for some family fun outdoors this weekend. I sure do hope the weather cooperates for us. We had another storm last night with tornado warnings for our area. Thankfully there was no damage and no loss of power here. There were some that weren't so fortunate. Lots of big trees came down in some places.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Life is not about the prizes we win, but the people we love.
27 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

I don't know what's up with blogger this week Ma, but I sure have had a lot of problems commenting and making my way around the blogs! I got here in the end though, so sometimes perseverence pays off! Love the cheesecake recipe and also the thoughts on being a child. We had to use our imaginations when I was growing up. No fancy games etc for us. I think childhood was better then, but than I am a bit more than biased! xxoo
