ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MAY 25TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
NATIONAL MISSING CHILDREN'S DAY
Today is National Missing Children’s Day, a day to focus on the 2,300 children that will be reported missing in America today(and every day. Unfortunately, child abductions can happen to any child, any family. No one is immune to child predators.
What you can do:
Review and enforce child protection and safety awareness regularly with your children.
Be ever vigilant
Establish neighborhood watch groups
Become involved
Report anything suspicious...immediately.
Created and maintain records of your children... photos, fingerprints.
In 1983 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 National Missing Children’s Day. Since then, U.S. presidents have annually marked this day
O Angels of God, from heaven so bright,
watching beside my children to lead them aright;
Fold your wings round them, and guard them with love;
Softly sing songs to them of heaven above.
Amen

May 25th is NATIONAL BROWN BAG IT DAY!
Packing your lunch for work or school is a great way to make sure you know what you (or your family) is eating during the day. So many healthy foods are easily stored in a bag, lunch box, or thermos for easy transport.
Healthy lunch ideas include: sandwiches with low fat spreads and meats on whole wheat breads, fresh fruit, celery and carrot sticks, and dried fruit or trail mix.
Enjoy a healthy sandwich. Look for nutritious breads that will hold up well when used for traveling sandwiches: 100 percent whole-wheat or whole-grain sliced bread, whole-wheat pitas, and whole-grain tortillas are terrific options. Be sure to choose lean deli meats like turkey breast, chicken breast, roast beef, and ham. Make sure you select varieties without added sugars like honey-baked ham and serve deli meats with condiments like Dijon mustard or sugar-free salsa.
Prepare a salad. Make a hearty Cobb or chef salad for one or more using dark, leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, reduced-fat cheese, turkey bacon, and/or lean deli meats. Divvy it up into separate containers for any family member on the go. Put the dressing in a separate small container to add just before eating.
Consider soup. Lentil, split pea, and black bean soups are nutrient-dense, fiber-rich, satisfying choices, as are cold soups made from cauliflower or broccoli. Gazpacho is also an excellent choice for a hot-weather lunch. The great thing about soup is that you can prepare a big pot on a Sunday and it will last you a few days into the week. Hot soups can be packed in a microwavable container; cold soups in a thermos.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Wednesdays are usually laundry days here at my house, and today I think that the flannel sheets are going to finally come off the bed. It is cooler here with temps in the low 60's but still I don't think I will need them or my fleecy pj's anymore until fall.
I have been able to open up the windows and let in some fresh air and that is a wonderful thing. No a/c has been needed yet for sure. Hopefully we'll have some more nice Spring days ahead before it gets too hot.

28 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
