ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
March 16TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
Today is Freedom of Information Day, when the nation's libraries celebrate the people's right to know.
Freedom of Information Day celebrates and recognizes a valuable concept in American rights. March 16th is the birth date of James Madison, the 4th president of the United States of America. James Madison is recognized as the Father of the Constitution, and the chief author of the Bill of Rights. Freedom of information and individual rights was very important to James Madison
Did you Know? The Freedom of Information Act was passed into law in 1966. It opened up a wealth of information to American citizens. James Madison would be very pleased!
THINKING
Cherish your human connections: your relationships with friends and family.
Barbara Bush
Today: Think of a way to make a friend smile.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
It's National Artichoke Day
The ancient Greeks called them kaktos, And given the artichoke's thorny exterior, the comparison to a cactus seems apt. But when you get down to the heart of the matter--the artichoke heart, to be precise--you get a delicious tender vegetable that goes great in dips, casseroles, salads, paella and more. Have a heart, it's National Artichoke Heart Day!
Artichoke Dip
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the artichoke hearts, mayonnaise, cheese and green chilies. Mix well and pour into a 2 quart casserole dish.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Garnish with chopped green onions and chopped tomato if desired
PRAYERS
Lord, teach us how to live in balance…teach us to work and to rest; to play and to serve. Help us know YOUR priorities, then seek to do them with all our hearts!
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
The face is familiar, but I can’t quite remember my name
By Thursday they say we may just see 60 degrees and sunshine! I'm ready for it! I may just have to take some time out and sit in my rocker on the patio and soak up some warmth! We'll see...
COUNTING THE DAYS
May the road
rise up to meet you.
May the wind
be ever at your back.
May the sun
shine warm upon your face
and the rain
fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you
in the palm of His hands
Traditional Gaelic Blessing
4 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
33 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,

And seeing as it's Freedom of Information Day, I'll inform you that it's also St Urdo's Day.
Have a good one! And a grand St. Paddy's tomorrow!
Love artichokes!! Yum!
How much more info we have now than we did ten years ago--just at the tips of our fingers--the internet is a strange thing.
Peace!
