ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
March 13TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's SUNDAY!
The nation sprang forward to Daylight Saving Time this morning at 2:00. Which means today is Check Your Batteries Day...it's a great idea to put new batteries in your smoke alarms all around the house today.
THINKING
Life is so very, very short. Why spend even one day doing something which you have outgrown? When something stops working for you, it is time to move on.
Joe Armstrong
Today: choose to do something new that you've never tried before. If it works, take it to the next level. As we take steps of faith, our destinies unfold. Bring your life to life..
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
March 13th through the 19th is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Week
It's the quintessential American cookie! Invented at the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts in 1933, chocolate chip quickly became the most popular flavor of cookie in North America.
Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package Milk Chocolate chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
Cream butter and vanilla extract in a large bow with an electric mixer-gradually add the sugar, beating after each addition. Add the eggs and beat until the mixture is fluffy. Mix flour, baking soda and salt, mix into the butter . Add the chocolate chips and nuts and blend in well.
Drop by tsp. or roll into small balls instead of just dropping the dough onto the cookie sheet, (this method helps keep the cookies soft) onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 8-10 minutes at 375: or until light golden brown. Makes 3 dozen
PRAYERS
Lord, we want to be moving in the right direction with our life.
We trust You to guide our steps
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save
Will Rogers
Better than half my life was spent working so that I could retire and have a chance to do the things I never had time for. This coming weekend I'll be finally getting my front room and dining room painted and that is something I've wanted done for quite awhile now.
Over the weekend I've tried to get all the things off the walls and wipe them down a bit with some good old Murphy's oil soap. I love the smell. I got rid of a few cobwebs I didn't even know were there too. Today I'm clearing away all the knickknacks that sit on the surfaces too. My house looks so bare.
I'll be off to church this morning and then home to clear things off. Not much R and R going on at my house today.
I hope your Sunday is a great one!
COUNTING THE DAYS
It is simple. We are where we should be, doing what we should be doing. Otherwise we would be somewhere else, doing something else.
Richard Stine
7 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
36 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

A freshly painted room lifts the spirits and makes you feel you live in a new place sometimes. A lot of work but something you are proud of when finished.
Oh and have a great Sunday!
