THE BRIGHT SIDE

Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.

Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.

Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

I'm looking out the window
and the day is drab and dreary,
And I'm trying to console myself
by thinking something cheery
I know it's simply horrible
to get in such a slump
And I also know it's up to me
to get across the hump
And I realize I'm selfish
to mention this to you
For, gee, you might be feeling
a little 'low-down' too
but often when I feel like this
I tell myself it's true
That I am not the only one
who feels 'low-down and blue'
And just knowing there are others
who feel the way I do
Renews my sinking spirit
and keeps me smiling through
and know that it's natural
to take a 'spirit-dive'
Provides the spunk and courage
to hang on and survive
And while there are a lot of moods
that we can drive away
by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE
in all we do and say,
There also is a loneliness
that God meant us to feel
But, gee, it sure is mighty hard
to know which one is real
And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack'
who never saw the sun
And just complained that every day
was such a dreary one.
But I know that all the dark days
are just part of God's plan
We should accept them graciously
and do the best we can...
So I'll just keep on trying
for I know it's 'Gospel true'
there never was a cloud so dark
the sun could not shine through!

I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal.

The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life.

You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share.

In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 13TH, 2010

It's THURSDAY!

It sure has been chilly here in our neck of the woods. I sure do need some warmth. It is raining more here this morning. Maybe all the bad weather will do its thing now and come Memorial Day we'll have a beautiful weekend.

We can't count on the weather but one thing I will count on is a

weekend at the camper. I am looking forward to my 3rd season on Party Hill. This one will be even nicer as I'll be able to spend a lot

more time there.

THINKING

When I get annoyed because I don’t get my way and don’t act with good grace, I need to remember that when I let God’s wishes (not mine!) control my life, things go better and I’m happier and more fun

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

With good bread and a few simple ingredients, you can pull together a hearty, delicious dinner in minutes

Salami and Brie Panini

12 slices rye or pumpernickel bread

1 pound brie cheese

6 ounces creamy Havarti cheese sliced

2 granny Smith apples pealed cored and sliced thinly

6 tablespoons butter softened

1 lb. peppered salami, thinly sliced

3 ounces baby spinach

Preheat grill or skillet. Place bread on a clean flad and dry wo

rk surface.

Spread Brie in a thick, even layer on bread

Top with sliced apples and Havarti cheese

butter both sides of bread and grill till browned

about 7-10 minutes

Repeat process to make additional sandwiches

Keeping the grilled sandwiches warm in a preheated oven of 200 degrees

Pull apart sandwiches and insert baby spinach and salam

Close, slice and serve warm

Lord, we pray for justice and peace in our world. We pray, too, that You

would influence each of us, Lord, to bring justice and peace to our own part of the world this day.

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for

the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this in the

As I've been traveling back and forth a lot these past few weeks I've noticed just how bad traffic has gotten. I must say though that for the most part people pretty much adhere to the speed limit. But there are a few that go flying by me. I'd love to know just haw fast they are going. It seems if I'm going the speed limit they must be doing at least 100 mph. I can't afford any speeding tickets so I just maintain what is posted and let them zip on by.

COUNTING THE DAYS

No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it. Do not look back on happiness -- or dream of it in the future. You are only sure of today; do not let yourself be cheated out of it.

So cute and cuddly.It must be so nice for you to be able to help DS and DDIL,I would love the job.Give him a big cuddle from me please.Yes I feel the same about the traffic no matter how fast one travels and sticks to the limit there is always some silly person to go faster and break the law, it's very scary at times I find.It's a very cool wind here too Ma.Oh!how I wish it would warm up soon too.Have a lovely day.Take Care God Bless Kath xx; May 13, 2010 at 1:12 PM
