THE BRIGHT SIDE

Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.

Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.

Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

I'm looking out the window
and the day is drab and dreary,
And I'm trying to console myself
by thinking something cheery
I know it's simply horrible
to get in such a slump
And I also know it's up to me
to get across the hump
And I realize I'm selfish
to mention this to you
For, gee, you might be feeling
a little 'low-down' too
but often when I feel like this
I tell myself it's true
That I am not the only one
who feels 'low-down and blue'
And just knowing there are others
who feel the way I do
Renews my sinking spirit
and keeps me smiling through
and know that it's natural
to take a 'spirit-dive'
Provides the spunk and courage
to hang on and survive
And while there are a lot of moods
that we can drive away
by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE
in all we do and say,
There also is a loneliness
that God meant us to feel
But, gee, it sure is mighty hard
to know which one is real
And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack'
who never saw the sun
And just complained that every day
was such a dreary one.
But I know that all the dark days
are just part of God's plan
We should accept them graciously
and do the best we can...
So I'll just keep on trying
for I know it's 'Gospel true'
there never was a cloud so dark
the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter

I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal.

The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life.

You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share.

In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 5TH, 2010

It's

WEDNESDAY!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

Today is supposed to bring 80 degree temps and some more rain.

We seem to be having a day of sunshine and then more rain. The grass is growing like crazy and I know that here at

DS#6's he is having a tough time finding a day with out rain so he can mow it.

The joy of not working is that I can do things when the opportunity arrives and don't have to wait anymore till the sun shines. I'm also very flexible. My plans have changed for the week as our Little Lucky guy's doctor appointment was cancelled so DDIL#6 won't be staying home from work and that means I'll be here thru Friday from the looks of things. Then I'll go home till Sunday evening when I'll return here for another week of babysitting.

Plans can change from day to day as we all know. I don't mind t

his change as it only means that I'll have a few more SMILES to enjoy

THINKING

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

Breakfast for Dinner Day

I found this recipe on line and thought I'd share it just for

fun today:

Serves 1

Reportedly one of the King’s favorite foods, this indulgent treat has a crisp, toasty exterior and a warm-smooth filling. Rumor has it he sometimes added bacon, but we’ll leave that decision to you

2 tablespoons peanut butter (preferably smooth)

2 slices white sandwich bread

1 small ripe banana, mashed with a fork (about 1/4 cup)

2 tablespoons butter

Spread peanut butter evenly on 1 slice of bread, then spread mashed banana on other slice, leaving a 1/4-inch border around edge. Close sandwich, gent

ly pressing bread slices together

Heat butter in an 8- to 10-inch heavy skillet over moderate heat until foam subsides, then fry sandwich, turning over once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes total.

Eat immediately with a knife and fork.

AROUND HOME

These days at home with our little Lucky guy just speed by. We start the day off with a diaper change and a bottle. He sometimes naps awhile and sometimes he stays awake and talks with me and of course shares plenty of smiles.

While he has a nap I get dressed and have breakfast and send off my morning newsletter. You'll notice it goes out much later than usual now as he has priority ov

er any thing else.

I usually try to do up the dishes and bottles. They have to be ready for the next go round. Then before I know it he is awake and we do the diapering and feeding all over again. Oh and I almost forgot the bath. He loves getting a bath which is a good thing for sure. The time just flies by.

I have been trying to at least start dinner for them before they get home and they leave me instructions for what ever is on the menu. Every thing they fix is a little different in the way I make it so I try and do it their way. We've had turkey chili, turkey sloppy Joe and turkey Kielbassa

You're never too old to learn new tricks!

FAMILY

We got to go on a nice long walk Tuesday evening. I pushed the baby stroller and I think that it helped me as, even though I'm badly out of shape, the walk didn't do me in.

I'm hoping to enjoy more walks now that nice weather is here. I sure do need the exercise.

COUNTING THE DAYS
