ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 15^TH, 2010

It's SATURDAY!

Here I am at home once more. I have a hair cut at 11 this morning and have to do a little shopping today but otherwise will try and catch up on things here at home.

Tomorrow is our Little Lad's big day as he'll be baptized so I'll be doing some double duty traveling as I'll go there and then I'll have to leave for DS#6's house in the evening.

At least it is not raining and the weather is reasonably good although it could be a little warmer. We're to be in the high 60's today.

THINKING

The simple truth is when we put God first in our lives; everything else will fall into place. Our responsibilities will continue and the demands of life will go on but God will be there to help us bring order out of chaos

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

Fruit Salad

Watermelon and Cantaloupe with Mint Vingarette

1 bunch fresh mint, chopped

1/4 cup lemon juice, from about 1 lemon

1/4 cup simple syrup, recipe follows

1/8 teaspoon amaretto

2 cups watermelon balls, from about half a watermelon

2 cups cantaloupe balls, from about 1 cantaloupe

In a blender, combine mint, lemon juice, simple syrup, and amaretto. Blend until smooth.

In a large bowl, combine the watermelon and the cantaloupe. Add the vinaigrette and toss. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve.

Simple Syrup:

1/2 cup water

1 cup sugar

In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved. Take pan off heat and cool the syrup. Any extra cooled syrup can be saved in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Loving Lord, inspire me to bring out the best in others by being welcoming and generous and always positive in attitude, showing individuals that they matter and are important.

May those who are part of my life this day treat me in the same way as I treat them

AROUND HOME

First Law of Living: As soon as you start doing what you always wanted to be doing, you'll want to be doing something else

That's the way it goes around my house. There are so many things I want to do but I usually wind up doing something else. The little things that take time like paying bills and watering the plants all add up when you've been away all week. I don't need to clean house though, no one has been here to make any dirt...except for the dirty old bird and he did his share with flapping his feathers here and there.

FAMILY

A mother can touch a whole generation just by loving her own child well.

When you think about it where would any of us be without our moms. As my mother taught me, I also taught my children and so they are teaching theirs. The joys of the first words, the first steps, the firsts in their lives are so memorable and important.

One thing I know and maybe two. You can never give them enough love and they will always be your children.

COUNTING THE DAYS
