ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JUNE 11TH, 2009
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Real joy comes not from riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile
JUST FOR TODAY
We all need to look for the silver linings in our day-to-day lives
Just for today: I will take time to let children be my teachers and guides.
We may not always be aware that little ones are paying attention to us, learning how to love, care, and trust. However it is often the children within our midst who lead us by example. Children know without question that God answers every prayer.
Children see majesty in even the tiniest elements of the world: the varieties and aromas of flowers, the colors in a rainbow, the splendor of a sunrise.
IT’S THURSDAY !!
I made it over the hump of the week and am now on the down hill slide into the weekend. More rain coming our way today they say but the weekend is shaping up pretty nicely.
I’ll be on the road a lot this weekend. As usual I’m leaving for the campground on Friday after work, but then I’ll come home Saturday evening and leave again on Sunday morning after church to go to DS#3 and his family’s house.
DD and DS#3 have birthdays next week, but they are both celebrating this weekend. So I’ll have a day to celebrate with each of them. I don’t very often get the chance to be with any of my children on their birthdays; much less do any celebrating so I’m taking advantage of this opportunity.
DS#5 and #6 and their wives will be going to DS#3’s with me too so I’ll get to visit with them also. I won’t see DS#1 and family though this weekend as they are staying home since it’s the weekend for our Princess’ Dance Recital. I know she’ll be the cutest kid on the block and I’ll miss seeing her perform. They promised to take lots of pictures since I won’t be there.
With all the children and grandchildren I never get bored for sure.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Dear God, make us instruments of your will in all our
daily tasks and relationships
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

TODAY’S SMILE
An independent trucker was having difficulty finding his delivery location. Take exit 20, turn right, and then take the second left, were the instructions he was given. He took the correct exit, turned right, then took the second left and ended up back on the highway.
He tried again. The same thing happened. He called the company, who gave him some adjusted directions. His next two attempts put him back on the highway going the opposite direction. However, he recalled having seen a police car parked not far from the exit. So on his fifth attempt, he parked his rig, walked over to the police car and asked the officer for help.
Don't worry, said the officer, just wait a while. Your trucks have been coming by all morning. All you need to do is follow the next one that gets off the highway
TODAY’S REFLECTION
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Matthew 5:17
When the Bible speaks of "the Law and the Prophets," it refers to the Old Testament. The Ten Commandments are still very much in effect as commandments, and God expects us to love one another even when we don’t feel like it. So what is the fulfillment that Jesus brought? Through the cross, he has brought about the kingdom of God—the very thing that the Law was preparing for. He defeated the enemies of the kingdom and made it possible for us to join him in the work of reshaping the world according to his way of love, mercy, and holiness. Like a parent giving gifts to His children, God has built gift upon gift, covenant upon covenant. And He's saved the best, most glorious one for last
