Today is also International Puzzle Day which was created in 1995 by game companies in the U.S.A.   On this day, puzzles if all shapes and sizes are honored.  

The first jigsaw puzzle was created around 1760, when John Spillawey,  a  British engraver and map maker ,  mounted a map on a sheet of wood that he then sawed around was individual country. He used it as a product to aid in teaching geography.  After catching on with the public, this remained the primary use of puzzles  until 1820.   By the 20th century, magazines and newspapers found they could increases their subscriptions by publishing puzzle contests.  Puzzles may include, letters numbers, shapes and riddles.

Solutiona to puzzles may require recognizing patterns and creating particular order.  People with  high inductive reasoning apitude may be better at solving puzzles than others  Puzzles based on the process of inquiry and discovery to complete  may be solved faster by those with good deductive skills. 

Celebrate today and solve one or more puzzles.

This grandson lives out of state in Ohio so I won’t see him today.  From what I’ve heard he is still in college working on his Doctorate degree.  He has won all kinds of awards for being such a good student. He received schlarships to attend college and he still is.  He’s almost like a permanent student at this point. I can’t wait to see what kind of working position he gets when he finishes.  As usual a card will be sent out once I return to Texas, with lots of love and birthday wishes!

I’ve always enjoyed doing puzzles especially when doing so with others.  Every winter we’d get a jigsaw puzzle for the whole family to take turns working on.  It was a good way to pass the time when you had to stay indoors due to the cold weather. I also used to work crossword puzzles found in the newspaper. I was never really good at either of them, but enjoy the time spent with others.

Today we’re supposed to get some warmer, in the 70’s an I’m looking forward to it!

COUNTING MY GIFTS

Life is like a puzzle:  each piece has a reason, a place and a purpose.

I list at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for.  There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
