The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
Slightly adapted from one of my morning devotionals
82 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Life is a special occasion!
Today is World Music Day which is celebrated with a music festival annually. The first festival and the idea was broached by American musician, Joel Cohen. in the 1970’s he spent two seasons as a producer of musical radio programs for the French National Radio, where he originated the concept of an all day musical celebration on the days of the solstice. The ideas was taken up by the French Music and Dance director, Maurice Fleuret for Minister of Culture Jack Lang in 1981 and first took place in 1982 in Paris.
This holiday proposes to promote music in two ways: Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to preform on the streets. The slogan Faites de Musique, is used to promote this goal. On the other side, many free concerts are organized making all genres of music available to the public. Two of the caveats to being sanctioned by the official Fete de La Musique Organization in Paris are that all concerts must be free to the public and all performers donate their time for free. Noise restrictions still apply and can cause some establishments forbidden to open and broadcast music.. So the police in France can forbid them to install any radio hardware in the street. Music is an art form with whose medium is sound and silence. Its common elements are pitch rhythm, dynamics and sonic qualities of timbre and texture.
To see the bright side, polish the dull side
Sorry no more concert pictures to be found in my archive albums today.
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Berthold Auerbach
I love all sorts of music but my favorite is country. I like to attend concerts both vocal and musical. Most of these are provided by my grandchildren. Some of them sing and some play instruments and some even dance. There are also some great concerts played on TV and I enjoy those too. Listening to all them come together to play music is a treat. Some of our great singers also have concerts on TV, usually in the reruns, but still new to me. I rarely go to a live performance by them. They are expensive.
It turns out that yesterday was not my appointment date for the new specialist. I had posted a letter on the fridge that said it is October 4th. Thankfully I saw that early in the day. I have all my new patient information forms filled out and my medicines ready to show him, so I’m prepared for the 4th.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
Music is the strongest form of magic.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
12,737. for grandchildren who perform in concerts
12,738. for music on the TV and radio
12,739. for so many wonderful types of concerts
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Where words fail, music speaks.

Hi Ma! I love this 'holiday', and for some reason was reminded of that 1984 collaboration, 'We Are The World' -- when so many famous singers came forward to perform in harmony on behalf of African relief.
I used to love attending live concerts, but lately the ticket prices and crowds have dimmed my enjoyment.
World Music Day - I do like to listen to music, and I do every single day. I agree with Mevely the prices of concerts are astronomical. Good luck at your new doctor!
