Life is a special 

occasion!

Today is Repeal Day which is the anniversary of the day the United States repeal of the 18th Amendment, restoring the right to purchase and consume alcohol.

The amendment which was ratified on January 16, 1919 prohibited the manufacture, sale and transportation of liquor throughout the United State.  Prohibition led to widespread disrespect for the law.  New York city alone had about 30,000 speakeasies by 1927.  Eventually, many influential citizens including John D, Rockefeller, Jr. came forward and organized a counter moment.  The 21st Amendment ending Prohibition was certified on December 5, 1933.

Repeal Day is a celebration of the balance of power in the United State and of the individual freedom that allows each American citizen to choose whether or not to drink alcohol.

To celebrate today, be thankful we have the right to choose how we want to live.

I will be celebrating today, not because I want to drink alcohol, but for the fact that we have the freedom to choose.  I do believe that every person should have a choice in the way they want to live.  Even the good Lord gave us a freedom of choice.  

I’m thankful for the freedoms we have in this great country.  We all disagree on many things, but we can agree to disagree with respect for each others choices.

The pictures today are of one of my  trips to Florida.  I’m looking forward to going again.

It’s to be a cold with rain changing over to snow. It’s going to get slushy out.  Be careful when driving today.

I’m choosing to stay in and get housework done. There is no end to that I’m afraid to say.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
