Today is National Go Barefoot Day which is a day to kick off your shoes. Embrace the beginning of the summer season and join people across the country in this shoe free celebration.
This day was launched by a non profit organization called Soles4Souls. The real purpose of this qirky holiday is to encourage people to donate new and used shoes to the victims of natural disasters. Take a moment to do a little spring cleaning and give away the shoes you no longer need. You could even organize a shoe drive in your community.
To celebrate today, enjoy a barefoot walk on the beach or treat yourself to a pedicure. Enjoy !
Today is also Oscar the Grouch’s Birthday, Flip a Coin Day, World Milk Day and Say Something Nice Day!
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Take off your shoes-
You’re on barefoot beach.
Relax in the sunshine -
Broken only by trees.
Giorge Leedy
The closest I come to barefoot these days is wearing sandals or flip flops. I will be celebrating by polishing my toenails. I’d like to go for a walk on the beach but I don’t go barefoot much at all anymore. The pads of my feet have worn out and they need a shoe on them in order to walk comfortably.
I have a few pairs of sandals and lots of flip flops which I’m showing in my pictures today. I fell in love with them when I visited one of my son’s in Mississippi. He was graduating from the Navy and it was hot and steamy there. I had taken socks and tennis shoes to wear and my feet were very hot. One of my other son’s and his wife told me about Reef Flip flops which are very comfortable to wear in the hot weather. They give me plenty of cushion to walk on and keep my feet cool. Before that the only flip flops I’d owned were the cheap kind you wear in the shower to prevent slippage and they didn’t support your feet at all.
I do remember the joy of taking off my shoes and socks in the summer when I was a kid and running barefoot in the grass. It was a very freeing feeling.
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY BLESSINGS
To walk barefoot is sacred.
Michael Bassey Johnson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
11,353. for lots of flip-flops to wear
11,354. for sandles that show off my toes
11,355. for nail polish to put on my nails.

Comfy and cool feet are a blessing in the summertime!
I have to be honest and I have no idea why - but I really don't feel comfortable without shoes - weird - right?
I've only worn those cheap flip-flops, so appreciate your mention of the Reef brand. I'll have to check them out ... as soon as I get a pedicure, that is.
Oh yes, I like flip flops but I must have a bit of cushiony bit underneath!
I went barefoot all the time as a kid but not as an adult! I need support! LOL!
I wear okabashi sandals😎
