Life is a special   

occasion!

Hallmark!

Today is King Kamehameha I Day, which celebrates King Kamehameha who united the the Hawaii Islands in 1810.

He was born in Kohala, Hawaii and passed away in 1819.  During his lifetime, he made great efforts and went through treacherous battles for control of the islands. With his success he went on to take most of the surrounding territories as well.  After his death, his throne was possessed by three dynasties for nearly a century, ending with Queen Lili’ Unkalani in 1893. 

Many celebrations take place all across the islands where they gather to commemorate Kamehameha the Great. There will be a parade with princesses dressed in colorful leis, a community band and fire department.  It holds importance and significance to Hawaii’s past. 

To celebrate today, you could celebrate and wear an Hawaiian shirt!

My mom always wanted to go to Hawaii, so for that reason I’ll celebrate today in her honor. I’ve never been there but it would be a wonderful tribute to her to make a visit in her memory.  

Today we are to have cloudy skies with lots of rain headed our way.  We need the rain.  We haven’t had any for about 3 weeks and ground is very dry here.  The grass hasn’t turned brown here, but it needs water badly.  Needless to say, it hasn’t need mowing.  I’ve been watering the plants but not the grass.  

As usual for me I’m staying in and relaxing today.  It’s my day to refresh and renew.  I have a busy week ahead.  Monday morning I take the car to the shop early.  Hopefully I’ll have time to make a post before I go, but if not, it will be going out late. It depends on when I wake up.  

Hopefully it will be early but I no longer set an alarm clock. I’ll have to leave here about 8:30 am. 

The pictures for today, since I have no pictures of Hawaii, are from my bathroom, which I call my Beach Room.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

ADVICE FOR TODAY

Hawaii is still the single most frequent fantasy destination, not because of political stability or conveniences, but because Hawaii seduces the imagination.  It’s the perfect postcard, no props, no fillers.
