Hallmark!
Today is National Gumdrop Day which celebrates a tasty chewy candy made with gelatin and coated with sugar. They come in fruity flavors like grape, orange, cherry and lemon or spiced flavors like cinnamon, clove, mint and anise.
Many people believe that a man named Percy Trusdale invented the gumdrop in 1801, but there is very little evidence to support the claim. What is known that gumdrops have been a popular confection for at least two hundred years.
The boardgame Candy Land features both a Gumdrop Pass and Gumdrop Mountain.
To celebrate today buy a bag of gumdrops and enjoy !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats.
Iris Murdoch
Gumdrops are not only a tasty treat but also make good decorations for cakes and cookies. They are something I can no longer eat unless I find some with no sugar. Ha! Thankfully, I have been able to enjoy them in the past and know how good they are. There are just too many things I’ve had to give up, but I do it because I want to remain healthy. You just never know when things can change in your life and getting older has been full of changes for me.
My sweet treats are now blueberries and strawberries or an occasional orange!
I have a change in routine today since I did my grocery shopping yesterday and not today. I have a luncheon to attend today
My menu for next week is:
Monday - Baked Beans with Ground Beef
Wednesday - Salisbury Steak Supreme
Friday - Slow Cooker Vegetable Minestrone Soup
Weekend - Turkey Meatloaf
On the menu for today was supposed to be:
Pulled Chicken Sandwiches
Makes 6 servings
1 onion finely chopped
1 can, 6 oz., tomato paste
1/4 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
1Tbsp cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp chili powder
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
6 whole wheat hamburger buns, split or bread of your choice
In a small bowl, mix first 11 ingredients. Place chicken in a slow cooker. Pour sauce over top
Cook covered on low until chicken is tender, 4-5 hours. Remove chicken, cook slightly. Shred meat with 2 forks. Return to slow cooker and heat through. Serve on buns or bread of your choice.
I would be serving this chicken on my Oatmeal bread, but I’m going out to lunch today and will probably have leftovers for dinner tonight. They always give you more than you can eat in one sitting.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

My sweet treats may have changed but they are still very good!
Gumdrops are timeless! Not only are they yummy, but fun to look at. The only ones I eat nowdays are called 'VitaJoy Biotin Gummies" (vitamin supplement).
I hope you're enjoying a tasty and FUN luncheon.
After all this time I realized somehow I hadn't followed you. Dah.
Gumdrops - it was Kelly's birthday yesterday and after dinner we went to a candy store and you know we got something like gum drops - they looked like lemon wedges but they were all different flavors - we all had a taste - I didn't really care for any but the lemon one!
