Hallmark!
Today is Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day which is a day that reminds us that we don’t need to stress out over all the little mistakes in our past. Leave your worries behind, and greet the new day with optimism and a positive outlook.
The saying, don’t cry over spilled milk, is an age old proverb that has been around for hundreds of years. The first historical reference to the phrase appears in a document written by British historian James Howell in 1659. The saying mostly comes from the European folklore. According to the old takes, fairies were particularly fond of milk and would drink up any spills left behind.
To celebrate today, let bygones be bygones. Don’t worry about the little things in the past, and instead focus on things that are headed your way.
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There is no sense in crying over spilt milk. Why bewail what is done and cannot be recalled.
Sophocles
I like to think I’m an optimistic person and look forward to each new day. I used to stress out from the little things that would go wrong, but as I’ve gotten older, I don’t do that anymore. Knowing what I do, the little things really don’t bother me anymore. When I consider all the things that can happen in life, little things aren’t worth the stress.
This my day to cook for the weekend and on the menu is:
Rosemary Chicken Tuscan Style
Makes 4 servings
2 cans, 14.5 oz each, no salt Italian stewed tomatoes, undrained
10 small red potatoes, quartered
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can, 6 oz., tomato paste
2 fresh rosemary sprigs
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp Italian seasoning, divided
3/4 subs cut up chicken, skin removed
1/2 tsp pepper
1 jar stuffed olives, drained
In a slow cooker, combine first 8 ingredients. Stir in 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning. Place chicken on top. Sprinkle with pepper and remaining Italian seasoning. Top with olives.
Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 hours until chicken is tender. Discard rosemary springs before serving.
I used 2 skinless chicken breasts in mine and cut them in half. I didn’t have stewed tomatoes so used diced tomatoes instead. I also omitted the olives as they contained a lot of salt. Other wise I followed the recipe as it is. I’ll be serving this with a small side salad.
It’s to be in the 40’s today so I’ll probably be going out today and do a few errands.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
If it’s not meant to be, it’s not going to be. There is no use crying over spilled milk.

Your attitude in life will make a big difference !
Great cute advice! I've found the older I get, the less apt I am to stress. Sure, I care about stuff gone awry, but I care more for my own peace of mind.
40* weather sounds mighty cold to me ... stay safe out there!
Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day - I love that. Haven't heard that expression for a long time. With this radon issue and looking for a new place - I am tending to cry over spilt milk - must do better!
