ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Baseball Opening Day! Often hailed as the true beginning of Spring. Opening Day is the most important day for baseball lovers across the country. For the next 6 months over 750 players on thirty Major League teams will compete in over 2,000 games.
Baseball has been revered as America’s National pastime for over a century. To celebrate tune in to watch the game, head outside to throw a few pictures or enjoy some hotdogs, the traditional ballpark snack.
Play Ball !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz.
Humphrey Bogart
I do love baseball. Out of all the sports there are, it’s my favorite. I’m not a baseball player at all, but do love to watch it on TV or listen to the games on the radio.
I can remember days in the summer when I was young that I’d gather with friends and my cousins and play baseball. I struck out more than not. Ha ! But it was fun and those days are some I’ll never forget.
These days I enjoy watching my grandchildren play ball and that is what todays pictures are of. They are from last year. But it won’t be long now until I’ll get to see more. Hopefully it’s going to get warmer soon.
Ball park hot dogs are good and I did a search to find a recipe so I could make my own and have a recipe to share today.
Depending on which Ball Park you go to you will find a large variety of hot dogs to eat. They all seem to have their own way of fixing them.
One article I saw said that the trick is to first boil them then grill them ever so slightly. That way they retain all the juiciness of a boiled dog, but is still like one that’s been grilled.
My favorite recipe for a ball park hot dog comes from the Cincinnati Reds - the Cheese Coney Dog
Hot dogs, cooked
Buns
Chili
Ground cinnamon
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Shredded cheddar
Yellow mustard
Chopped white onion
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 can, 15 oz., store bought chili with 1/4 tsp each ground cinnamon and cocoa powder. Cook over medium until heated though. Top dogs with chili mixture, shredded cheese, mustard and chopped onion.
The Cleveland Indians, my major league home team, also has a specialty dog called the Dyngus Dog. Probably due to the large Polish community in Cleveland it includes not only a hot dog, but a pierogi topped by red cabbage, horseradish, sour cream and chopped chives.
I haven’t had one of these but always cheer on my home team, the Cleveland Indians.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
What is life, after all, but a challenge? And what better challenge can there be than the one between the pitcher and the hitter?
Warren Spahn
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5839. for baseball, an entertaining sport for me
5840. for hot dogs, good any way you fix them
5841. for my radio, always free, unlike the TV
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I agree there is nothing like a hot dog at the stadium. Except for the price of course. YIKES
