ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
APRIL 20th, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
TAKE A BREAK AND RESET YOUR MIND DAY
We all know that actions speak louder than words. It’s one thing to say what you care about, but much harder to walk your talk. Today is a day to think about how you can incorporate your values into your daily life. When you are clear on what you really care about, you want to compare your values to how you are currently living your life
This Holy Week that we are journeying through is all about realigning our life coordinates. It would be foolish to think we haven't changed since Easter of 2010. A lot changes in a year and so have we.
STARTING THE DAY WITH A PSALM
PSALM 127:2
It is vain for you to rise up early; to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Unless God is in the midst of all our doing, our doing is in vain. How often have we said, I worked so hard and yet whatever it was just didn’t work out…nothing came of it or I stayed up all night burning the midnight oil, and I still failed my test?
The best bridge between hope and despair is often a good nights sleep.
This psalm says in vain is your earlier rising and your later going to rest…for God pours gifts on his beloved while they slumber. Our security is only in God. When our efforts distract us from our devotion to God, we have no protection.
Lord, I'm so thankful for a good nights rest because I was able to turn my problems over to You. By your grace alone will we find eternal security.
National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day!
In many cultures, the pineapple symbolizes the notion of welcome. In our culture, serve delicious upside down cake and your house guests won't just feel welcome, they'll never leave! Topped with caramelized brown sugar and round, juicy pineapple rings, this yellow cake isn't too heavy and isn't too sweet, making it a popular favorite this time of year
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
1/2 fresh pineapple, cleaned, cored and sliced 1/2" thick
Maraschino cherries, halved
1 box (18.25-ounce size) yellow cake mix
Mix sugar and margarine or butter in small bowl. Evenly crumble on bottom of lightly greased 13x9" baking pan. Arrange pineapple slices over sugar mixture. Place a cherry half in each pineapple ring; set aside.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour cake mix batter over pineapple slices. Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan on wire rack 5 minutes. Invert cake onto serving platter. Cool cake 10 more minutes and serve warm or cool completely before serving.
Note: When I make this cake I melt the butter right in the baking pan then sprinkle in the brown sugar instead of mixing it together first.
PRAYER for Our Troops
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top
I have some good news to share today! Finally a month to the date, I did find my postage stamps, camera, note pads etc yesterday! They were sitting practically beneath my feet. I keep an old Boy Scout Popcorn tin by the computer for storage and that is where I'd safely tucked away all my things from my desktop the morning of the painting party.
What a relief! Now I'll be able to take some pictures of Easter this year.
COUNTING THE DAYS
If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.

Thank you so much Ma for your words today, for Psalm 127: 2 and reminding me of how I must keep God in the midst of everything -- my broken sump pump, my broken dryer and all! I feel refreshed, like my mind has been reset!
We would be a kinder gentler people if we always remembered to keep God in everything.
MMmmmm! Pineapple Upside Down Cake...I haven't made that one for years.
God bless and enjoy your day.
BTW: Happy Easter Giveaway...my place...ya'll come! :o)
