For Saturday, August 21st, 2010
National Senior Citizens Day honors our elderly population. On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of elderly people to home, family and society.
In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said, For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older
When I think of the things that I value most in life, I may turn my thoughts to my relationships and experiences or to certain material things such as my home or possessions. But all of these things are secondary to my faith in God.
Today is National Spumoni Day
I remember the time I actually first tasted Spumoni. It was on the first date I had with DDH. We were with friends and I got to go to the Circus for the first and only time in my life. But before the circus we went to a charming Italian restaurant. For desert we had Spumoni and I love it to this day!

It is so nice that your country has a to honour the older generation. At the moment over this side of the pond i feel guilty being old we are always being told how much our pensions are costing there is going to be a cut here and a cut there it does begin to pray on your mind after a while it is not good to feel like this I can tell ou it is not fair after you have worked hard all your life and paid all you taxes. Have a great day a celebrate for me too. Love Joan
