Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
The last three days of March have a reputation for being stormy. Scottish folklore proposes that these three days were borrowed from April so that March might extend his power. The Spanish story about the borrowing days is that a shepherd promised March a lamb if he would temper the winds to suit the shepherd's flocks. But after his request was granted, the shepherd refused to deliver the payment. In revenge, March borrowed three days from April, in which fiercer winds than ever blew to punish the deceiver.

Three days, and they were ill:
The first was frost, the second was snaw,
The third was cauld as ever't could law.
Four steps to achievement: plan purposefully, prepare prayerfully, proceed positively, pursue persistently
Into a mixing bowl, sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in center. To the well, add oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla, and lemon peel. Beat until smooth and creamy. Combine egg whites with cream of tartar; beat to very stiff peaks. Pour egg yolk batter in a thin stream over entire surface of beaten egg whites, carefully cutting and folding just to blend. Bake in an ungreased 10-inch tube pan at 325F for 55 minutes.
Increase heat to 350F and cook 10 minutes longer. Invert pan; cool. Frost with seven minute frosting or your favorite fluffy frosting

Lately I have the feeling that I'm getting further behind instead of ahead. I keep busy but the more I do it seems the more there is to do.
It's still very cold here this morning. But the sun is supposed to shine again today!
COUNTING THE DAYS
St. Theresa's Prayer
May today there be peace within.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
