ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 19TH, 2010
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
Today is EVALUATE YOUR LIFE DAY
Evaluate Your Life Day gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect upon our life, where it's been, and where its going. It could be the beginning of a happier and healthier you!
Believe you can do it...and you will.
Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are?
We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move.
You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel?
You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
It's National Seafood Bisque Day
This unofficial food holiday really comes at the right time as, in most of this country, it's starting to get pretty chilly with the onset of autumn. How about indulging in a warm, rich seafood soup? Now don't skimp on the cayenne pepper!
Easy Seafood Bisque
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of shrimp soup, undiluted
1 (8 ounce) package imitation crabmeat, chopped
2 1/4 cups milk
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon pepper
In a 3-qt. saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 20 minutes or until heated through, stirring occasionally
God our Father, with your help may we transform any negative experiences we may face in life into something positive.
If we are treated unfairly, lead us to be concerned about fairness and justice for others
If we feel misunderstood, inspire us to listen to others and show genuine interest
If we are left out of things, remind us to welcome and include others
If we have experience little support, show us how best to encourage others
If we feel unappreciated, lead us to be generous in valuing and thanking others.
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
I've begun my countdown to show how many days are left until camping season begins. It'll help me to have something to look forward to. We all need to have some kind golden apple dangling before us to help motivate us. I used April 15th as my end date, but I'm not really sure what the actual date may be. It will be sometime mid April so that is why I choose the 15th.
COUNTING THE DAYS
63 DAYS UNTIL WINTER!
67 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
178 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
