ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 4TH, 2010
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
Today is International Toot Your Flute Day, a day to promote yourself.
You’ve probably never celebrated Toot Your Flute Day, or even heard of it. This sounds a lot like blow your own horn, an old expression that means bragging or boasting about yourself and your accomplishments. Neither of these sayings is about music, just talking. The basic idea is that we ought to broadcast our accomplishments and let people know what we’ve done.
No need for modesty, tell everyone how great you are. Celebrate your strong points and take credit for the great things you do. Self-promotion doesn't have to be bragging.
You are awesome. And you look fabulous. It's true!
Prayer brings peace to our hearts and, eventually, the world.
DNA is undoubtedly important: Deeply Needed Attention, that is.
While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Today is National Taco Day.
Many people need no excuse to eat a taco. All over our country, this staple of Mexican cuisine has taken over as the perfectly portable lunch time treat. They can be traditionally soft or more American style in a hard shell. They are known to be grilled, rolled, fried, and even skewered. They can be filled with pollo (chicken), al pastor (marinated beef), (shrimp), pescado (fish), and carnitas (pork)
October 4 is the feast of St. Francis, patron of animals
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying
that we are born to eternal life.

Daylight Savings Time ends November 7th, 2:00 AM
And just in case you are looking forward to Daylight Saving Time 2011, the dates change slightly. Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 13, 2011, and ends Sunday, November 6, 2011.
As the days are getting shorter now, I had been thinking about when the time would change this year. As chance had it, I saw this info when checking out today's trivia.
I'm in no rush for the time to 'fall' back at all, it will only mean that it gets darker even earlier. By 7:15 it is already pretty dark here. By 8 o'clock I'm thinking it's bed time but am trying to make it at least till 9 before I head upstairs.
There is not much at all on my calendar this week until the weekend and then we'll be having the annual Fall Festival and Chili cook off at the campground. The long range forecast is saying sunny but cool in the 60's. That would be a blessing after all the rain we had this past weekend.
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so
