ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MAY 1st, 2010
Here we are with a new month to celebrate already. April sure did fly by but that always happens it seems when the weather starts getting nicer. It was those cold months of Jan, Feb. and March that sorta drug along.
I'm at home again until tomorrow evening. Then back I go to stay at DS#6's till Wednesday evening. DDIL#6 is taking off Thursday and Friday so I'm not needed for babysitting. Our little Lucky guy is going to have his baby shots.
If the weather is nice I'll probably go to the camper that Friday and Saturday.
It sure was beautiful, just like summer here yesterday. Tonight and tomorrow I think showers are moving in our way
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences." Proverbs 18:21
We can choose what we will sow. Words of life or words of death and we will reap the consequences many times over
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
A long time ago Saturday nights were Dinner and a Movie night. We didn't really do Movies very often after the babes came along, but we often had friends over for an evening of playing cards so today I thought I'd share a little snack food recipe with you all. We always had snacks while we played cards and most always had dessert and coffee afterwards too.
Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips
2 kiwis, peeled and diced
2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored and diced
8 ounces raspberries
1 pound strawberries
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor
10 (10 inch) flour tortillas
butter flavored cooking spray
2 cups cinnamon sugar
In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.
Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit mixture.
Lord, help us to plant your word firmly in our mind and heart.
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
I've been working on decorating the walls in the front room so that they go with my Americana theme which is red white and blue in varying shades. Someday when I can get around to painting I'll be changing the color scheme but for now I needed something different to look at. Today I'm going to do a bit more. When I get finished I'll take some pictures for you all to see.
This weekend is a quiet one for me, but then I've been spending lots of time at DS#6's house so that is ok. DD and her hubby are supposed to be traveling so I'll be praying for a safe trip for them.
It would be wonderful if all our family and friends lived close by, but as I well know that is hard to do so travel is so very necessary. Take good care everyone!
