Life is a special occasion !

Today is the day we Spring Forward and the sunrise will be about 1 hour later than the day before.  There will be more light in the evening and less in the morning.  It’s also called Daylight Savings time.

It always begins on the Second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday in November when we fall back an hour.

Mosts of Arizona and Hawaii don’t use DST.  During WWI, in an effort to conserve energy,  Germany began observing DST on May 1, of 1916, and the rest of Europe soon followed.  The  plan was not adopted in the United States until March 31, 1918.  There was no law enforced to make people change thier clocks, and many didn’t.

By 1962, the transportation industry found the lack of consistincy confusing enough to push for Federal regulation.  The result was the Uniform Time At of 1966 signed by President Lydon Johnson on April 14th.  States were allowed to exempt themselves as long as the entire state did so. 

As of November 2023, a number of state's bills have been introduced regarding time changes. None have passed Congress.  

Celebrate today and move your clocks ahead one hour!  Enjoy the extra hour of daylight we’ll have tonight.

THOUGHT  FOR TODAY

Lost an hour, saved some daylight.

While I don’t mind having more daylight in the evening, I did hate to give up an hour of sleep last night, it takes awhile for our bodies to adjust.  They say the trick is to go to bed an hour earlier the night before.  I didn’t do that, so I must suffer.  

However, I’m not going to let that keep me from celebrating my special day.  Truthfully I’ve been celebrating since the first day of March and will continue on until the end of March.  I figure 82 years of age deserves to be celebrated for more than one day! 

I have already received a gift from DDIL#1 and her family and I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to her! I’ll be going out to dinner with my Texas family today and will certainly enjoy the party!  

Yesterday we ate with DS#2 and we had birthday cake made by my daughter.  He does a delicious crawfish boil every year for friends and family. So two days of enjoying family time.  It could only be better if the whole family were here!

I must say I’m so thankful to be me, a wife, a mom, a grandma and a great grandma. I’m thankful for all the experiences I’ve had being a women, especially having my family.

COUNTING MY GIFTS

More light, more warmth, more hope, more joy.  It’s worth losing sleep over.

I list at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for.  There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
