Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don't let success go to our head or failure go to your heart.
Anonymous
The quote above gives some very sound advice. I've learned that every time I've ever felt really good about myself, the dear Lord has found some way to keep me humble. Like when I've got the kitchen sparkling and drop an egg on the floor or spill some milk on the clean tablecloth. We all make some mistakes and accidents happen so it's important too not to let failure get you down. No matter what, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
It's good to remember to be thankful for the help we receive to get things done and also for the faith and hope we have to start over again. We can only try to do our best and leave the rest to God. Once we've done what we can, it will happen or we'll find the next step to what we need to do. It’s better to look back on life and say, I can’t believe I did that, than to look back and say, I wish I did that.

NEWS FROM HOME
Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
Spring is inching on slowly here this year, but in just a few short days, I'll be where Spring has sprung and is staying that way. Wednesday this week I'll leave for my visit with DS#4 and his family. I've got to start thinking about what I want to wear and pack my suitcase.
It'll definitely be warmer there than here, so I'm thinking I should probably pack some sunscreen. We have had a few days of sunshine and warmth here but many have been wet and chilly. Today we are to be sunny with temps in the mid 50's but by Wednesday we're to be back in the 40's.
I'm taking 1 step forward today and 2 steps backwards it seems.
Hope you all have a relaxing and restful Sunday!
PRAYER REQUEST
Please join me in praying for a successful surgery for our little Lucky Guy tomorrow. He'll be having his adenoids out. May the dear Lord bless him with a successful surgery and guide the doctors that care for him.
Does anyone recognize this pot holder, it was left here after our Easter celebration.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I am grateful for the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and floors that need waxing because it means I have a home.

I am taking the time to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day. I am halfway there now. It's amazing to see just how blessed I am.
