THOUGHT FOR TODAY Grandchildren are loving reminders of what we're really here for.  Janet Lanese It's hard to believe how fast my grandchildren are growing.  It seems like just yesterday that I held this handsome young man in my arms.  This is the last of our January birthdays but this year will hold many more to celebrate. I'm so thankful to have been blessed by such wonderful grandchildren. Little do we know what the future may hold for them, but I'm hoping they'll all reach for the stars!  Anything is possible when you try. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday! PRAYER REQUESTS A friend has asked for prayers for several of her co-workers. She wrote: The first person is a good friend who has stage 4 cancer.  He was diagnosed a year ago and given only 6 mos. max.  He decided to not take any type of treatments and has recently formally retired from work.  I would like to ask that the prayers be for God's continuing loving care so that he is able to feel ok and to enjoy life to it's fullest.  The second person is a 48 year old who had a heart attack while playing basketball with his kids and some of his co-workers and their families.  He started to not feel well on the floor and it was just a blessing that there were two nurses in the stand who attended to him immediately and that the ENTs got there so quickly.  They found a blockage and immediately put in a stint.  He is stable and resting in a regular room today at hospital.  I would also like to ask for prayers for one who. has many medical issues but they almost lost him at Christmas.  He is slowly working his way back to where he was before that time but it is taking a toll on wife as well.  She's had to miss a lot of work and at this point any kind of infection or illness could be extremely serious for her husband. They too would greatly appreciate the thoughts and prayers.   COUNTING MY GIFTS Be thankful for the smallest blessing and you will deserve to receive greater. Value the least gifts no less than the greatest, and simple graces as especial favors. If you remember the dignity of the Giver, no gift will seem small or mean.  Thomas à Kempis I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders. Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics and EMT's GOD BLESS YOU !
