IRIS DAY

Iris Day celebrates these beautiful and attractive late spring bloomers. With or without a beard, Iris are very popular among homeowners and gardeners. With a little luck, you have Iris blooming in your flower beds today.

The word Iris means rainbow. Irises come in many colors such as blue and purple, white and yellow, pink and orange, brown and red, and even black.

Celebrate Iris Day by enjoying these great, easy to grow bloomers. If you don't have any in your yard, get some and plant them today. You can also enjoy this day by going to a floral shop to buy some Iris to put into your favorite vase.

Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages. Therefore the flower iris in the language of flowers symbolizes eloquence. Based on their color, irises convey varied messages. A purple iris is symbolic of wisdom and compliments. A blue iris symbolizes faith and hope. A yellow iris symbolizes passion while white iris symbolizes purity. A gift of iris can be used to convey many emotions.

Today is also a great opportunity to learn more abut how to grow and care for Iris.

Nature often holds up a mirror so we can see more clearly the ongoing processes 

of growth, renewal, and transformation in our lives.

NEWS FROM HOME

Not only do we have Iris blooms all around our house, the azalea bushes are blooming too.  It's nice to almost always have something blooming as we go through the warmer months.  From March or April, depending on the weather,  until late November there will be something different until it all freezes over for another year.  

We've been noticing a lot of red and black winged butterflies outside too.  They are known as  Red Admirals.  The newspaper said that this year is has been just right for a population explosion of them due to a larger emergence of the native species and waves of migrants from southern states.

They are a welcome sight in our back yard for sure.

I'll probably be spending most of this week at home then go back to the camper next week.  I have a few things that need doing here so will try to finish up some projects that I've started.
