September is National Honey Month

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

Honey Barbecued Shredded Pork

Makes 8 to 10 servings

1 pork shoulder, picnic roast (remove fat)

1-1/4 cups ketchup

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup honey, we suggest dark honey

1 cup chopped celery

1 cup chopped onion

2 Tablespoons lemon juice

3 Tablespoons white vinegar

3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 Tablespoons dry mustard

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

8 to 10 crusty rolls or flour tortillas

In 9x13-inch pan, combine all ingredients. Cover with foil and roast at 300°F oven for 3 to 3-1/2 hours. Shred meat using two forks, removing all bones and skin. Stir with sauce. Serve in crusty rolls or warmed flour tortillas.

AROUND HOME

If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep.

I'm undecided about whether or not I'll leave for the camper today or tomorrow. When it is in the 90's I prefer to be home so that I can do more if I have to stay inside in the a/c to keep cool. But they are calling for a 50% chance of rain tomorrow and I don't like to drive in the rain so I may leave here later this afternoon just to avoid it. We are in for a big cool down for the weekend with temps in the

60's and 70's.

I'll be glad to get back to my 'little place in the woods' for sure.

Tomorrow our Mr. Wonderful and his Mom should be coming home from the hospital. I probably won't see them at all until next week. Then if needed, I may be helping out at their house a few days as DS#5 will be going back to school.

Finally the new high school will be open and school starts for everyone here in our town after this Labor Day weekend.
