Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
This morning is an early start for me. I was up at the crack of dawn, as they say, and will spend a few hours with DDIL#5 and Mr. Wonderful today. DS#5 is still taking half days at work. He is enjoying the time he can at home with the new babe while he has the chance. I'm enjoying it too!
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing
Today, think about something you have been avoiding doing, and make a realistic plan towards accomplishing it.
There sure is a lot around here to put on that list!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
National Cream Filled Donut Day
I just love special days like today! Sure, you were watching your weight. Then, along comes a special day that is just packed with calorie and carbs. And, that special day encourages you to eat one of your favorite breakfast treats.... cream filled donuts.
The most popular cream filled donuts are chocolate cream and vanilla cream.
Just sharing a couple of Kitchen Tips with you all today
Place a table setting correctly. To the right of the plate set the knife (edge faces plate) and spoon; glass stands above the knife. On the left, place the fork with bread and butter plate above it. Lay the napkin on the plate or left of the fork.
Hot soup burn your tongue? You'll feel better if you cover the spot with sugar.
Back yard cooks grill steaks like a pro without peeking inside! Learn the spongy feel of uncooked meat when pressed with a spatula. Then with the spatula, test the cooking meat and feel the degree of doneness. Medium grilled feels firm yet spring. Firm and hard? Too bad, overcooked

Have women always bought stuff?
Ovid (43 B.C.-A.D. 18) made the following observation about 2,000 years ago:
Women are always buying something
Monday was one of those near perfect days in the mid 70's. I got laundry done and also got my birthday cards in the mail for this week.
Today looks like another one, but it may be cooler tomorrow. I've got most of my fall clothing out now so I'm prepared for cooler days. For the most part though it should be in the 70's this week.
A family is a unit composed not only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold
I did hear from DS#1 and DS#6 on Sunday. Our little Lucky guy is cutting teeth and was enjoying a teething biscuit when I got to talk to him. He had his first cold last week but is feeling better now. DS#6 says they got rain most of last Saturday. Sure wish we had a good rain like that as it is very dry here.
DS#1 says there is a chance that they'll be coming home on Saturday and if so my camping plans may change a little. I still don't know for sure, but that's ok as life in slow time lets me be very flexible for sure.
