ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
March 15th, 2013
5 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
THE IDES OF MARCH
The Ides of March was just another date on the Roman calendar until the fateful day in 44 B.C. when Julius Caesar was assassinated. He had been given advice not to go, but he didn't listen.
Beware the Ides of March
Despite its roots, the phrase Beware the Ides of March has given the date a bad name ever since. As winter recedes this year, however, it's worth embracing the ides as a time of triumph rather than foreboding. Bad things happen every day, we just notice them more on days of heightened superstition, like the Ides of March and Friday the 13th.
For me, the ides of March, mean a welcome change. After a long winter of hibernation, I finally feel the energy returning with the lengthening of the days.
It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
It's true! Every year this is the day when I notice a big difference in the way I feel. It could be that that longer day light hours are making a difference.
I bought a bag of lemons when I went shopping the other day. I thought the extra 'C' would probably be good for me. They say when life brings you lemons you should drink some lemonade. So on a cold March day that is exactly what I did. Just a day later, DD made me a delicious birthday cake that was pink lemonade flavored too.
I have a blogger friend out in California who recently harvested her lemon tree and gave bags full of them away. I bet they had more flavor than the ones I bought, still my lemonade tasted pretty good. Those lemons are like a little ball of sunshine all in themselves.
March 15th is also the day that the residents of Hinckley, Ohio welcome back the turkey vultures. Another sign that Spring is on the way!
Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
PRIORITY FOR TODAY:
Loving God, guide and teach us to live your truth in love so we may continue to grow. Amen.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts.
I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day,
360. for lemons and lemonade
361. for increased energy, there will be lots to do very soon now
362. for vanilla creme horns, also known as Lady Locks, mmmmm good!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
You can't see Canada across lake Erie, but you know it's there. It's the same with spring. You have to have faith, especially in Cleveland.
