My favourite type of cookies. I love the flavour of anise! I have never had a scarecrow, although we have made ones for Halloween for the children by stuffing old clothes and using jack-oh-lanterns for the heads. I have had tiny plant pick ones, but never a full size one. I love your thoughts on the weaknesses of Dorothy and her companions and how we can use turn out own weaknesses into strengths! God bless you! xoxoMarie Raynerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00407913432222377267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5626705650115550220.post-91483040450048005462017-07-03T06:39:20.490-04:002017-07-03T06:39:20.490-04:00Anise is a very old spice, used quite a bit in my ...Anise is a very old spice, used quite a bit in my mother's era (born in 1918). She loved anise cookies as well as candy. I love it too. "by learning to accept each other’s differences and support each other on their quest, they prove that our weaknesses may help build closer bonds that strengthen us. In weakness, we learn to rely on friendships."<br /><br />My paternal grandmother hadn't much, but each Christmas she'd make little hard anisette candies wrapped in twisted wax paper pieces ... whose recipe was a jealously-guarded secret. After she passed, my mom made it a few times. Yummy, as I recall for sore throat/coughs. Now, I've the 'secret' recipe, that's actually ridiculously simple; maybe I should post it someday!Mevely317https://www.blogger.com/profile/14786988262452989091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5626705650115550220.post-84017198667403649172017-07-02T11:55:35.175-04:002017-07-02T11:55:35.175-04:00I have used anise when cooking carrots, but never ...I have used anise when cooking carrots, but never thought of it with cookies. Could be fun to try. We might be getting our monsoon rains later this week. Otherwise lots of sun here.<br /><br />Bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.com
