ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MONDAY, OCTOBER 20TH, 2014
62 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Sunrise: 7:46 am
Sunset: 6:39 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Today is Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day. Remember when you got your computer, and the tidy, empty desktop looked clean, productive and well-organised? If you were to take a look now, I'm willing to bet that it’s strewn with icons that you barely ever use, that there are documents and files sprawling around folders that are in desperate need of organisation. Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day demands that you put things away, delete things you don’t need, and to put some structure in place to stop things getting quite so messy before the same time next year…
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.
A. A. Milne
A. A. Milne
Due to the fact that I worked at a job that I spent most of my time on the computer, I quickly learned how important it was to keep my files organized. The office I worked on counted on me to be able to pull up information quickly and efficiently. I’ve done the same with my home computer. The mail I’ve kept along with the recipes I’ve collected are all in the proper folder and if I want to find something I know where to look. I could only wish that my house was as organized as my computer.
Organization is wonderful when it works, but sometimes it’s good to bask in an unorganized but homey kind of mess. If everything were perfect here, I’d be afraid to leave some fingerprints or drop a crumb. Well that is the not case when it comes to my house. It’s cluttered, it’s a little shabby but it’s a whole lot comfortable.
It’s important to know what we value and what we prioritize as important to do each day. For me an organized life would be impossible. No matter how hard I might plan to do something, often interruptions come my way and because they are more important than getting organized, I've learned to be very flexible.
The weather this week looks to be considerably cooler than last week. It’s a good thing I managed to get out the warmer clothing and put away those summer things that will no longer be needed. It’s going to get worse before it gets better for us, so for right now I’m just going to be thankful for any day that gets close to 50 degrees around here.
I hope you all have a wonderful start to the new week ahead. Happy Monday.
65 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Let go of your perfectionism! Be kind to yourself and do a little at a time, Stop stressing about the upcoming holidays! Commit to doing one thing each day to prepare for the holidays.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Nobody's life is ever all balanced. It's a conscious decision to choose your priorities every day.
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2144. for my comfortable imperfect home
2145. for the lessons I’ve learned in life
2146. for the priorities I hold dear - faith, family and friends

ADVICE FOR TODAY
The trouble with organizing a thing is that pretty soon folks get to paying more attention to the organization than to what they're organized for.
Laura Ingalls Wilder
A little smile, a word of cheer,
