ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
TUESDAY,OCTOBER 1ST, 2013
81 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
85 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunset: 7:08 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
OSU Football Star Don Scott died this day in 1943 in WWII. In 1939 OSU became part of the Civilian Pilot training Program. Its purpose was to foster private flying, but it quickly became part of the war effort. OSU trustees named the school's airport after Don Scott.
He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
People know you for what you've done, not for what you plan to do.
Football and flying aren't something we'd usually think about in the same context, but in this case, put together, they made a hero out of this young man. I can only imagine that the things he might have planned for his life didn't turn out the way he thought they would.
We can all make the best of plans, but we never quite know just how they might turn out. I've learned to go with the flow and to be very flexible. It's always nice when something works out just right, but then it's not the end of the world if it doesn't.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You don’t even miss a beat when gratitude to God is the beat of your heart.
I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
998. for plans that work
999. for goals to work towards
1000. for these beautiful fall days we've been enjoying
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

Some people are making such thorough plans for rainy days that they aren't enjoying today's sunshine.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
