62 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
65 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunset: 6:39 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Benjamin Harrison of the Hamilton County village of North Bend, who would become our 23rd President, married Caroline Lavinia Scott in the Butler County of Oxford, Ohio on this date in 1853. She took great interest in the White House and presided of the modernization of the mansion, which included the installation of electricity. It was Mrs. Harrison who established the tradition of the White House Christmas tree in December of 1889.
Christmas happens everywhere every time someone reaches out to touch another life with love.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Pumpkin spice & everything nice!
While it is way too soon to be talking about Christmas traditions, I do believe that keeping family traditions is very important and along with that it is good to create some new traditions with your own family too.
Every October, carved pumpkins peer out from porches and doorsteps in the United States and other parts of the world. Gourd like orange fruits inscribed with ghoulish faces and illuminated by candles are a sure sign of the Halloween season. The practice of decorating jack-o’-lanterns comes from an Irish folktale about a man named Stingy Jack, which originated in Ireland, where large turnips and potatoes served as an early canvas. Irish immigrants brought the tradition to America, home of the pumpkin, and it became an integral part of Halloween festivities. They soon found that pumpkins, a fruit native to America, make perfect jack-o-lanterns.
Today's pictures are of previous years jack-o-lanterns enjoyed by some of my grandchildren. Each one unique and fun, just like we are all unique. Individuals with our own looks, styles, and traditions. Each one very special in their own right.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday. Let your light shine to touch someone with love.

I have counted at least 3 things I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
