15 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
PEACE CORP DAY
Today is Peace Corps Day. This holiday is always celebrated on the 1st Tuesday in March. Through the Peace Corps, President John F. Kennedy sought to encourage mutual understanding between Americans and people of other nations and cultures.
Volunteers work to build trust within their communities and share their skills to solve challenges that face developing communities. Volunteers work in many different fields, including, education, health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS training, agriculture, business, community development, forestry, and environmental protection. Since the inception of the Peace Corps, some 200,000 volunteers have served in 139 countries.
After almost five decades of service, the Peace Corps is more vital than ever and still growing. From John F. Kennedy's inspiration came an agency devoted to world peace and friendship and volunteers who continue to help individuals build a better life for themselves, their children, their community, and their country.
We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.
William Ewart Gladstone
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Ninety per cent of the world's woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailties, and even their real virtues. Most of us go almost all the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves - so how can we know anyone else?
There is a saying that we cannot truly know another person unless we've walked in their shoes. We really don't know the how's or whys of another person's actions because we don't know what their life is really all about. I do try hard to never judge another person. It's not easy either. The easy thing is to criticize others.
Each of us is a miracle, we are all unique individuals and we all have a purpose for being here. Each of us creates our experiences by the thoughts we think and the words we speak. It's up to us as to what we choose.
Today's pictures show signs of spring taken mid March last year. Note the 2 bags of winter refuse parked along the bushes. We had just raked all traces of the winter away. Not so this year, more cold and snow on the way here.
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!
PRIORITY FOR TODAY:
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Let us love the world to peace.
Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts.
I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day,
330. for volunteers everywhere
331. for those peacemakers that work toward peace in our world
332. for the ablility to choose my thoughts, for many cannot
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
