60 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
NATIONAL POPCORN DAY
If your New Year’s resolution this year is to eat healthier, you’re in luck because today is National Popcorn Day. During the cold winter season, what could be better than watching a fabulous movie in front of a cozy fire with a great bowl of popcorn?
Popcorn done right is a dieter's best friend. Air-popped popcorn has only 31 calories per cup and oil-popped popcorn has only 55 calories per cup. And besides its low calorie count, popcorn is a source of antioxidants and fiber, as well as a whole grain just like whole wheat bread and brown rice.
DID YOU KNOW: Popcorn is the world’s most popular snack food and the most profitable, over 1 thousand percent mark up.
Whether you prefer gourmet flavors or the traditional, now is the perfect time to sample a wide variety of popcorn recipes. Popcorn is not only fun to eat, it’s fun to make too!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.
The very best popcorn I ever had was the popcorn DD would make for us to enjoy when we were sitting around the campfire. I don't know why, but I can't find any pictures of her popping corn, but she does a great job of it for sure. We all loved it!
More often than not I'm eating microwave popcorn these days. DDIL#1 got here own personal popcorn popper for Christmas this year and that is her in the 1st picture today. One thing for sure is that it is one of my favorite snacks.
Have a super Saturday everyone
