ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MAY 6TH, 2012
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
NATIONAL WILD FLOWER WEEK BEGINS TODAY
From May 7 through May 13, we celebrate nature's bounty of wildflowers across the nation.
Wildflowers growing beside highways, in gardens and elsewhere are valued for their natural beauty.
National Wildflower Week aims not only to highlight wildflowers' beauty, but to encourage citizens to understand their value and take steps to protect them. Wildflowers and native plants help conserve water, reduce mowing costs, provide habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife and protect the soil from erosion. In addition, native plants often require less resources to maintain than plants that aren't native to a region.
May all your weeds be wildflowers.
NEWS FROM HOME
There are plenty of wildflowers growing here at the campground. I enjoy all the seasons here, but Spring is a favorite, so I'm glad I got the chance to see some of them before they disappear. I did miss the blue bells but could tell where they'd been. After a good bit of rain Friday evening, Saturday was beautiful here and it should be another gorgeous day again today too.
I worked pretty hard the first day I was here cleaning up leaves that had accumulated here since we left last fall, but after that I haven't done much else. I had a call from DS#2 Saturday morning and was thankful for that. He's got a lot going on right now and it was nice to hear from him.
DS#1 and family came out Saturday afternoon and got their camper opened for the season. He is doing well after his surgery and is hoping to get back to work this week. He must be feeling better as he's tired of sitting around doing nothing. They just stayed for the day then returned home in the evening.
Later on today I'm going to be packing things up and heading home. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!
