ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 19TH, 2012
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
NATIONAL POPCORN DAY!
If your New Year’s resolution this year is to eat healthier, you’re in luck because today is National Popcorn Day. With so many ways to flavor and prepare popcorn, you can never get bored with this versatile low-calorie, whole grain snack. Use this fun holiday to experiment with popcorn and create nutritional snacks that will help you maintain your new, healthy eating habits. We love the stuff. No movie or baseball game is complete without it. It’s part of our American way of life. We associate it with fun. Sure, an afternoon spent with popcorn may mean an evening spent with dental floss, but that can only then be a reminder of what a good time you’ve just had.
Did you Know: Each kernel contains a tiny drop of water. This is why, when heated, the water expands causing the kernel to explode and flip inside out.
NEWS FROM HOME
Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.
I do love popcorn and probably have it at least twice a week. Most of the time I use microwave popcorn, but I also have an air popper that makes really great popcorn too. It really is cheaper to make your own and only takes a few minutes more than microwaving it. I've even tried making my own variety of microwave popcorn using a brown paper bag, but truthfully that didn't work out so well.
This week along with cleaning the bathroom from top to bottom I've continued to work on my mission to toss 365 items out of my home this year. I got a dozen or more purses out of the bottom of my wardrobe and will either donate them or give them away. They are still in pretty good shape, but I know that I'll never use them again so out they are going.
It may sound frivolous to even own that many purses, but the truth is I have at least 2 dozen more, that may or may not be used again. When you have lived as long as I do, you collect a lot of things and sadly I have hung on to those things.
One article I read said that people that hold on to things, tend to want to hold on to the past. I really don't think I want to do that so I'm making a good effort to let it all go.
Hope you all are having a good week. We made it through Wednesday, what I have always called Hump Day, and are now sliding right into the weekend.
Have a great Thursday everyone!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Friendship - You're Important to Me
Into a box of friendship
To insure that it is strong
First a layer of respect
On the bottom does belong
Then to the sides attach
In the corners where they meet
Several anchors full of trust
Devoid of all deceit
The height of friendship can be measure
By the sides of four
So make them all a larger cut
And the box will hold much more
Now fill it up with courtesy
Honor and esteem
and passion for a dream
Emotions joy and love
And since they're so important
Place them up above
And leave the box wide open
So all can see inside
To learn what makes a friendship work
From the box you built with pride
And in it they'll see your face, my friend
Because you're the most important item of them all.
In a recent poll, Americans have said that the quality which they thought was most important in a friend was honesty. It was considered to be more than twice as important as sharing common interests or having a sense of humor.Think how terrible it is to have a friend, or a child, or a parent, or a husband, or a wife, whom you cannot trust. What a tragedy.
When we cheat, we hurt people we love. When we are dishonest, we hurt the people we love. We hurt our God of all love.
