ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 23rd, 2012
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
NATIONAL HANDWRITING DAY
There is a day for everything and January 23rd is the day to recognize the good ol’ handwriting. January 23rd. commemorates the birthday John Hancock who was born in 1737 and he was the first person to sign the United States Declaration of Independence.Sad to say that many of us have pretty bad handwriting. After all, what do we need good handwriting for when we use computers? You actually use it a lot. The pen industry is still going strong.
Have fun on this day and get reacquainted with the old friends: pen and paper
NEWS FROM HOME
I remember how wonderful it would be to receive a letter in the mail. Packed away in my treasures somewhere there are many letters that I've saved. I have some from my grandmother and I have many from my DDH. I have some with congratulations on the birth of one or the other of my children. I'll probably never get rid of them. They represent warm loving thoughts and words from dear ones in years gone by.
Now, I watch for an e-mail or even a text message from those I care about. How times do change. They are no less treasured but keeping them for a long time is not quite as easy. I can store them in my computer but sadly computers have a way of breaking down and so I have lost many of them.
I put this newsletter on a blog every day and in someway hope that will preserve what I write about, but who knows how long that will last either.
Just my thoughts for a Monday...Have a great week everyone!
Write: write letters. Keep journals. Besides your children, there is no surer way of achieving immortality
