ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
AUGUST 17TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
NATIONAL THRIFTSHOPS DAY
Thriftshops is an old term for stores that sell items deeply discounted merchandise. It's not always the highest quality, but the price is right. Some might know these stores better today as discount department stores and dollar stores.
National Thriftshop Day is a day for a real bargain.Thrift shops like Goodwill and Salvation Army are full of old clothes, furniture, toys, and all kinds of odds and ends. And if you've ever visited a thrift shop, you know you can find one of a kind treasures like a leisure suit or a picture of Elvis painted on black velvet. The best part is, the proceeds go to charity, and so you can feel better about coming home with that treasure you're sure you'll find a use for some day
Thrift was never more necessary in the world's history than it is today.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
Be as thrifty as the thrifty bee, laying by in the summer time of youth for the winter of old age.
Our county fair is coming up next week and one of my favorite things to see is the barn with the bee keepers displays. I always try to buy some of their honey too. I love it on a toasted english muffin with some butter.
WHEN we speak about bees, most people automatically think of stings or of honey. However sweet honey may taste, making it is not the primary purpose of bees. Their most important function is pollinating plants.
There is similarity between bees and us if we take the time to think about it. Just as a bee pollinates the flowers we need to encourage each other too. A little pat on the shoulder for doing a good job or a hug or even a SMILE does a lot to make us the best we can bee...
DS#5 is going to be working at this fair too. He does a great job with his caricatures and is always a hit for fair goers. After that it'll be back to school for him and many others too.
Have a great Thursday every one!
Be the best that you can bee...
STEPPING UP THE PRAYER CHAIN
DS#4 called yesterday evening to let me know that his FIL definitely has cancer and further tests are being done before they make a decision as what is to be done. Please join me in prayer today. May our dear Lord aid the doctors in their findings and may healing and recovery be in their prognosis. I'm praying too for all the family as they go through this difficult time.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Thrift comes too late when you find it at the bottom of your purse.
36 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
