ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
AUGUST 7TH, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
INTERNATIONAL FORGIVENESS DAY
Forgiveness Day is a time to forgive and to be forgiven. There's enough trouble and strife in the world. Forgiveness days can only help to make things better.
You know that grudge you've been holding since high school? Today's the day to let it go.
The World Forgiveness Alliance created this day to promote the healing power of forgiveness. A little more forgiveness will help to make the world a much better place.
It really doesn't matter if the person who hurt you deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. You have things to do and you want to move on.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Happy National Raspberries in Cream Day!
There may not be a bad berry-cream combo, but we think that of raspberries and cream is particularly winning as a result of the fruit's pleasantly puckering tartness.
Raspberry Whipped Cream
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup raspberries
1 1/2 cup cold heavy cream
Sprinkle sugar over raspberries in a bowl. Let stand until juices are released, about 30 minutes. Mash gently with a fork until saucy but still chunky.
Beat cream until stiff peaks form. Fold raspberry mixture into whipped cream, leaving it slightly swirled.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
God Bless You ALL!
In between showers yesterday we did manage to have a great day. Some went swimming and some went fishing. Then DD and her hubby made dinner for us which you will see in the picture. It rained more after dinner and then cleared up enough so that DS#1 made us a pineapple up side down cake in his cast iron dutch oven. It was delicious. We were a soggy bunch but we had nice full warm tummies.
It's R and R day and today is the last day for the state fair so I'm sure DS#5 is looking forward to the rest.
Hope you all have a restful and happy Sunday.
