For Wednesday, April 13th, 2011
Today means Americans have worked well over three months of the year, from January 1 to April 12, before they have earned enough money to pay this year's tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels.
Tax Freedom Day arrives three day later in 2011 than it did in 2010, but nearly two weeks earlier than in 2007.
Despite tax reductions, Americans will pay more in taxes in 2011 than they will spend on groceries, clothing and shelter combined.
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup butter or margarine
Bake at 350F for 30 minutes or until top turns slightly brown and crusty. Serve hot or cold, plain or with ice cream.
